Meet Liesel Albrecht: The Retreat Queen Behind The Retreat Specialists
Hi, I’m Liesel.
Not many people know this but I have a Bachelor in Youth Affairs and have been a Social Worker. I had created my first leadership retreat for young adults over 32 years ago. Back then it wasn’t called retreats, but that was exactly what it was – a place where a group of like-minded people got together to connect, recalibrate and communicate.
Honestly, creating retreats back in 1994 was a lonely experience.
There were no supportive communities.
No easy-to-access resources.
No step-by-step process to ensure my retreats were running smoothly and successfully.
There was no industry best practice techniques that I could follow.
After creating retreats for other people, I then began to create retreats specifically for women from 2008 onwards. At the time, I was living remotely and felt the isolation because my friends were in Melbourne.
I wanted a place where I felt I belonged. A safe space to explore my journey, free from judgment. I needed supportive, like-minded women around me. Soon, other women felt the same. They found a space to recharge, feel uplifted, and connect with a real community.
The retreats ended up being transformational for many participants, with them asking when the next one was going to be.
I’ve built trusted relationships with world-class resorts, villas, and retreat spaces of all sizes. I’ve had the privilege of hosting incredible women like Elizabeth Gilbert, Gabby Bernstein, Amy Loughren (The Good Nurse), and Alana Fairchild. Our keynotes have included leaders like Kerryn Vaughan, Kerryn Slater, Shannon Dunn, Tammy Pike, Andrea Gaze and we continue to support retreat hosts like Michelle Fragias.
